Hello Families,
As you are aware, the exponential rise in positive Covid 19 numbers has implemented a learning model shift for our students and teachers here at TCU. We hoped that this shift would not happen but we have prepared for it. We were very lucky to have 9 weeks of Hybrid Learning during which we prepared and practiced for a shift to Distance Learning so that if/when the shift happened, each student would be in a strong and confident mindset for the transition.
We are attaching the 5th Grade Distance Learning schedules for our 5th Graders (please notice there is one schedule for Mr. Murry's students and one schedule for Ms. Sardelli's students. Your copy of this schedule also includes links to all of the Google Classrooms that your student will be using during DIstance Learning. The first day of Distance Learning will begin this Wednesday, November 18th. We are also attaching a schedule of the Distance Learning Days for this week and next week. Please let me know if you have any questions about either of these schedules.
Goals:
1. Attendance: Our 5th Grade goal is for our students to attend each meeting on their schedule each Distance Learning day. If for some reason, your student is unable to attend the meetings on a particular day, it would be very helpful if you could email us or call the office and let us know that your student will be unable to attend their meetings that day. The office has asked us to use the Google Meets to take attendance for our classrooms each day.
2. Missed Day or Missed Work: We will be posting each day's assignments in the Sardelli or Murry Google Classroom after our morning meetings are completed. For math, there will be videos for each day's lessons posted by early afternoon except on days on which an assessment takes place. We have already been using this format in our Google Classroom for the last 9 weeks so hopefully it will be a smooth transition for our students as we move from Hybrid to Distance Learning.
3. Student Progress/Assignment: You can ask your student to show you their "To Do" list to see any upcoming, current or missing assignments. If the student has submitted an assignment, they can still show you the assignment and the work that they did. The students can also go into each of their classrooms and Review their assignments on the Classwork page to see what scores are on the assignments that have been returned to them, along with any notes that I have left for them.
4. Communication: Mr. Murry and I will be posting our schedules and any notices In Google Classroom, through JMC email, in our SeeSaw classroom and through our class on the Remind App. This may mean you get multiple notices of the same information if you are signed up for Remind and SeeSaw. We understand that this may seem like a lot of repetition, but we want to make sure that our communications are able to reach our families quickly and consistently.
5. Gratitude: We would like to thank all of our student's families for their support and flexibility during this adventurous school year. Thank you for everything that you are doing!!
Ms. Sardelli
Mr. Murry

Hola familias,
